When you discover you are pregnant there are many things you will need to think about. One important issue for you and your family to discuss is where you might like your baby to be born, and what type of care you might like to receive. There are a number of options available that your GP should discuss with you.
At KEMH the midwives and doctors work in partnership to provide you with a range of care options to meet your needs. Even if you need specialised medical care you will always have a midwife to support you through your birthing journey.
The Family Birth Centre is a home-like maternity care facility located on the grounds of KEMH. The Centre encourages families to be involved in planning and, enjoy the events, of pregnancy and childbirth in a safe, personalised, comfortable setting.
The Community Midwifery Program is a care option whereby a midwife provides one-to-one care to a woman during her entire childbearing experience. Women who utilise this service choose home as the birthing environment.
