Perinatal Pathology Mementos
King Edward Memorial Hospital for Women endeavours to assist parents who have experienced the loss of a pregnancy by creating positive memories in the form of mementos. These include, where possible, photographs, handprints and footprints taken at the time of the post mortem. We can also give a Recognition of Life Certificate to parents who have had a loss of under 20 weeks gestation and cannot obtain a Birth certificate.
All mementos are stored indefinitely and are available to parents at the time of their baby’s birth, or at any later time (even years later).
