Female Genital Mutilation Project
The primary role of the Women’s Health Policy and Projects unit is to coordinate the statewide development of policy and planning for women’s health as well as promote, maintain and restore the health of women in partnership with regions, area health services and the wider community.
The unit also has service development responsibility of the NGOs contracted to provide regional sexual assault services, statewide women’s health services and termination of pregnancy counselling.
Key projects attached to the unit are the Aboriginal Healing Project, the Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) project and responsibility for the Guidelines for Responding to Family and Domestic Violence.
