Community Services

We provide a wide-range of community mental health services through our hospitals and community-based services.

Community Services

In case of a mental health emergency:

  • For immediate assistance with life threatening situations call 000
  • Mental Health Emergency Response Line:
    • Metro residents (local call) – 1300 555 788
    • Peel residents (free call) – 1800 676 822

The 24-hour, seven day a week Mental Health Emergency Response Line has professionals who can provide advice about mental health problems and, if needed, assist with access to mental health care.

For more information we recommend visiting the Mental Health Commission website.

Care Coordination

Care Coordination is the process of helping a person experiencing mental illness to access services which will promote recovery. This includes collaboration between the individual, their family, support person(s) and health professionals.

Evidence shows that care coordination improves consumer experience, promotes recovery from illness, improves quality of life and delivers better health outcomes.

All consumers accessing mental health services within East Metropolitan Health Service will have access to a care coordinator to support care during their recovery journey.
